About Har ki Doon, Uttarakhand
Har ki Doon or Har ki Dun, situated in the heart of Govind Ballabh Pant National Park at an altitude of 11,811 feet from sea level is one of a kind in the region. The trek is generally closed in winters as the valley gets 5-6ft. deep snow, but the gates are re-opened for trekkers from March. Even when you are coming on March, you will get abundant snow in the valley.
The trails of Har ki Dun takes you through valleys, forests, meadows, and local villages. You even walk by the side of Supin River. Each day is a surprise for you in terms of landscapes and views. When the snow melts down during the later months, the vast green meadow pops out with its lush green color making the entire valley more beautiful.
Unlike Kedarkantha, Har ki Doon or the Valley of Gods is situated at an isolated place thus taking you away from huge crowds and lets you explore yourself and the valley. Enroute you pass through a beautiful village named Osla which is another main attraction for trekkers to go for this trek.
It is believed that Osla village has Duryodhan Temple, which is actually denied by the locals and they believe it is the Shiva temple. This place is rich in history and mythology.
If you are lucky enough then you might get to spot Musk Deer or Brown Bear during your trek, but make sure to maintain proper distance if you get to see one. During the March month you can also spot the State bird of Uttarakhand i.e. the Himalayan Monal.
